Rotofil:

Barrier Films to Improve Shelf Life

Request a quote
In this field, there is a very wide range of packaging. These products are obtained by lacquering plain base films.

There are double-coated films with acrylic lacquer, very bright and transparent, with a gas barrier intermediate to that of coextruded and PVdC lacquered (or Saranized) films. They are used in overwrapping packages where a specific image is required (e.g., overwrapping perfume boxes); they can also be used for horizontal packaging. In thicker thicknesses, they are used for windowing boxes. They have a low sealing temperature, making them ideal for overwrapping, where little pressure is needed on the product being packaged.

The second typology concerns the films with differentiated lacquersIn fact, one side features an acrylic lacquer, while the other features a PVdC lacquer (barrier). The two lacquers are compatible and therefore weldable. These films have the advantage of keeping the acrylic lacquer on the outside of the package, offering good transparency, excellent gloss, and excellent slip and runnability (thanks to the acrylic lacquer), as well as a high gas barrier, provided by the internal PVdC lacquer.

Double-coated films with PVdC lacquerThese films, also called bisaranized, have the same lacquers as Cellophane XST (saranized) and therefore offer a very high barrier to gases/aromas. They are used for any type of packaging requiring a high barrier to gases/aromas, particularly in overwrapping, where high sealing bar pressure is not possible due to the low resistance of the product being packaged. In fact, they have a low sealability threshold and can be perfectly sealed with minimal pressure.
